San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers Fish community monitoring
To permit deep water ship channel maintenance dredging operations in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) mandated fish monitoring in the channels and at the points of discharge. In the fall of 2018, BIOFISH participated in fish community monitoring for threatened and endangered fish in dredging spoils in the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers of California. Salmon and sturgeon were the primary species we monitored for in dredging operations conducted by the Army Corps of Engineers.
